POSITION SUMMARY:
Bartenders are responsible for exceeding the guest expectations by providing them with friendly, prompt and attentive service whether mixing drinks or serving food at the bar. A Bartender has a variety of duties and will need to be a team player and also assist servers via the service bar. Accountability is an important trait for bartenders who must verify patrons are old enough to be served alcohol, and then serve them responsibly. Bartenders must be able to deal with customers in a variety of moods, as well as build relationships that turn visitors into regulars. Maintaining a positive and professional approach towards coworkers and customers in a high volume establishment is critical. THIS POSITION IS PERMITTED TO ACCEPT SERVICE BAR TIPS.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING: 
  • Checking ID when alcohol is ordered, monitoring alcohol consumption.
  • Ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol
  • Mixing and serving traditional and creative cocktails, knowledge of beer and wine pairings.
  • Familiarity with the drink/food menu, making suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences.
  • Taking customer orders, inputting them correctly into the system.
  • Open and maintain tabs for customers throughout the shift.
  • Stock bar with beer, wine, liquor, and supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins, or straws.
  • Communicating with kitchen staff, checking up on orders.
  • Collecting and processing payment from guests.
  • Accountability in maintaining inventory, inventory sheets, AM & PM check out sheets, store log entries.
  • Record and balance cash receipts and prepare cash deposits, collects server cash out envelopes.
  • May perform other such duties as assigned, such as opening or closing the restaurant.
  • Assisting in tasks to ensure a clean, sanitized and safe bar area and restaurant.
  • Developing a rapport with customers, ensuring patrons have a positive, attentive experience.
MAJOR TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are some major tasks associated with the above Essential Job Functions:
  • Prepares drinks with proper tools, appropriate amounts of liquor, and follows recipe specifications.
  • Committed to safe food handling, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Clean glasses, utensils, work area and bar equipment throughout shift.
  • Cut fresh fruit for drink garnishes, arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
  • Performs side work and other such duties as may be assigned.
  • Put deliveries away in proper areas, and keep storage areas and coolers clean and organized.
  • Brings safety concerns to the attention of management.
  • Alerts the Manager on duty of customer complaints, issues or needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The characteristics of the work environment described below are representative of those a Bartender encounters while performing the essential functions of this job at any of our locations: 
  • Constant, repetitive physical activity such as bending, walking, wiping, kneeling, twisting, reaching and prolonged periods of standing in a small space; must be able to climb a ladder when needed.
  • React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet, and coordinate movement of several parts of the body.
  • High level of manual dexterity to safely work with glass, knives and restaurant equipment.
  • Auditory and visual skills. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Multitasking, handling different work activities, and shifting attention quickly from one task to another.
  • Able to use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects up to 40 lbs.
  • Conditions in certain areas of the restaurant may expose the employee to odors, cold or heat, humidity, loud noise.
  • Schedule flexibility needed, especially in season during peak high volume periods.
  • Must have means of travel in order to get to work.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Food Handler Certification
  • Knowledge of mixology for traditional and creative cocktails
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
  • Ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol
Compensation: $9.98 per hour
